Acoustic Limestone Wall

An intricately composed double-sided limestone wall assembly of uniquely designed elements with smooth and rippled surfaces for acoustic property control. Designed and developed for the Istanbul Design Biennale 2018, using advanced acoustic and fabrication simulations and evolved by utilising evolutionary search methods. Build through high precision robot fabrication processes.

The project was made upon invitation from FABB in Istanbul as part of the Istanbul Biennale, and made in collaboration with Mads Brath Jensen. Reaserch, design processes and fabrication methods were presented at the International Innochain Conference and are further disseminated in the forthcoming book ‘Innochain’ published by Springer Verlag, with the book chapter title ‘Acoustic Wall: Computational and Robotic Design Integration of Four Primary Generators’.
